Awesome game

I dont understand why it lists compatible devices as only 3GS and up for iPhone and 3G and up for iPod Im 3+ hours in and it didnt crash once works on my iPhone 3G and iPod 2g.

Decent...nothing more though.

I was born in the late 90s and LOVE old school turn based combat. This game had the potential to be amazing. YOU WILL NEVER DIE EVER. That is my only complaint honestly. The first hour I bothered to manual select moves...then AUTO was the only thing keeping me sane. In short: decent game, dont buy at full price. Seriously.

Could have been better

Too easy. Bosses were unchallenging and auto battle was handy but took all the actual playing out of the game. Game was too short as well. Side quests were not descriptive making them too tedious to attempt. The dungeons were done well and the magic system was cool. Could have been a much better game with a little testing and improvement in a few areas. Forget about playing for the story.

Its turnbased

For the somewhat lack of turnbased jrpgs out nowdays since all now are the crap action rpg kind (sry arpg fans) this is nice to see. However, after reading others reviews id like to submit one. First thing that struck me is the drawn characters, they are nicely done, but, the sprites are a joke, they are running in place. Magic system is not bad, but you dont even need it, just hit auto battle every fight, and even if a party members health gets low, it doesnt matter they will lvl at the end of the fight and have all their hp back. The story is rather cliche but it was just enough to keep me interested so no real complaints there. Lastly...to the guy who wrote "dude...breath of fire" this is not it, but god id pay 20 easy for BOF3 on my iOS. Ty for reading my long a s s review ;)

Great game

Pretty long game, good quality and well done story line. Monster encounters perhaps a bit high but definitely one of the best RPGs out there

Loving Kotobuki!!!

Ive downloaded all three RPGs and this is my favorite. Spent many hours leveling up and the auto feature helps a lot! Oldskool and new elements kept me ignoring all around me for at least two weeks.

Love the Artwork

This is a gorgeous game, visually. The battles are also wonderfully done. My only complaint is that the game is too easy.

No good

Incredibly boring, no challenge at all. The story is very simple, has un-convincing characters, too many characters, and stupid dialog. Ive gotten half way through the game using the weapons and armor you start with, and its still too easy. Not recommended for old-school rpg fans.

Boring game

The game is too easy. You get attacked by monster way to often to just spam auto-attack the entire game.... I want my dollar back.

Need to be free full forever

Truth: art is lovely gives me many drawing ideas! And storyline well its okay but nothing beats final fantasy series! (star) Gameplay way too easy from the start and we basically auto-attack the spamming monster until the end and we rarely use their magic attack so if you not going to make the game harder then just make it complete free (-5 stars) You guys can keep my dollar as a thank you for art ideas!

Might be worth your time for $0.99...

This is the second Kemco RPG Ive completed, and like Eve of the Genesis, it feels uninspired. The character sprites and monster designs are a step up from Eve of the Genesis, but theyre still hardly animated. The world looks decent, but generic towns, towers, caves, and castles can only go so far. The labyrinthine level design that requires you to locate keys and switches while evading pits and battling monsters every few steps isnt my idea of fun, but fans of older RPGs such as Phantasy Star and Dragon Quest II might enjoy this 14 hour slog. Unfortunately, the battle system doesnt fare much better -- largely due to tiny text and boring (not to mention useless) abilities. I beat every battle in the game but one (the final boss) with auto-battle (which spams regular attacks) -- and I only briefly went off it before the final boss because I forgot to heal beforehand. Alphadia is not a difficult game as long as you continually outfit your characters with the best weapons and armor and fight hordes of monsters every few steps. The only strategy involved comes from equipping your characters with upgradeable rings -- which grant your characters a few new abilities and stat boosts to supplement your innate element. The incredibly boring battles are made tolerable with a decent story that draws from FF6 (and possibly Tales of Phantasia). There are a few borrowed elements from the aforementioned games (elemental spirits called espers which bestow your characters with energy being one), but the story was interesting enough to get me through the battles and boring dungeons. Kemco is on the right track with the story, characters, and the occasional bit of humor, but for their next game, Id like to see more interactivity with the world, larger text in battles, a few interesting side quests, more music, a greater degree of character customization, and a few unique dungeons rather than mundane towers and caves. Id prefer a great 5-6 hour RPG where each location is interesting to a generic game that is 10-20 hours.

Game is really fun

Ok so I am now 12 hours in and I got to say I love this game, yea it is easy but I cant wait to pick it back up and find out what happens next!!. I dont know why a lot of people give this game bad reviews if you are a fan of ash, you will love this game.

Surprisingly good

Im impressed on the whole. A little heavy on exploring/grinding, but not bad. A little bit pricy but for the length, not bad.

Funest game ever!!!!!!!!!

Its the best game in the app store!!!!!!!! It reminds me of dragon quest V hand of the heavenly bride... Which is the best game ever and should be on the app store!!!!!! But this is #1 game u could get in the app store!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUNEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice

I found that it is a very enjoyable experience for the $.99 I bought it at. Gameplay is solid, turn-based goodness and the characters are not exactly memorable outside of the game but still lovable and you can empathize with their moral dilemmas. The gameplay regarding equipment reminds me of tales of phantasia or star ocean 1 as there are no named jobs but characters with their equipable items and stat gains have innate archetypes like fighter or healer. The game also doesnt set it up in a way where one setup makes you instantly succeed but a lot of the non-boss fights just take several physical attacks and an energi skill to take them down but it is a pretty good time-killer with a decent plot and good gameplay. Id recommend it.

Great, but a little too easy

I love this game! It is reminiscent of the golden age of RPGs on the SNES, similar to the Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy series (1-6), with a good story and excellent game mechanics. My only gripe is that it is way too easy to defeat your opponents with standard battle fighting (i.e. just hit the "AUTO" button), and so far I havent needed the "energi" for anything. It seems to me that the developers went through an awful lot of trouble to design and develop the energi (magic) system, and with 63 quests completed so far - near the end of the game - I just havent needed it. But I still recommend it, the side quests are plentiful and a lot of fun.

Great game, first of five in series

Bring us the sequels KEMCO!

Awesome game :D

Just wish there was a mini-map, and zone maps of the towers, caves, etc. Kinda difficult walking around and not knowing how to get to where you need to go. I like the elemental rings you can use. It seems a little overpowered that you can max out the elemental rings, max out a characters energi skills (say 1417, because she seems like the biggest spellcaster) and then put a fine earring on, and have all of the elemental skills that characters learned be able to be used. I also think there should be more synergy between the energi crosses (dark/water, fire/earth, etc.), as in, fire/earth gets mini-quake, a special skill, at energi level 10/10, whereas light/wind gets one at 20/20 and dark/water doesnt even have one at 25/25! And, just gonna say this: For the people who are complaining that auto attack takes the fun out of the game, or that auto attack makes it too easy, TURN OFF AUTO ATTACK!!!

Best rpg by this developer

Very well done game. Its not often I find a game i can actually finish not to mention enjoy. Old school rpg fans will love it. It is worth the price as long as you try to finish the game.

WHAT IS THIS?? NO SOUND??

I bought this game looking for a good-old school RPG. I checked the reviews and description and I thought I had finally founded what i was looking for....just to realize that the sound doesnt play! ..i have and iphone 4s, so maybe its a software compatibility problem. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!
